HAM Stuff

I've been a "ham" (licensed amateur radio operator) since 1940.   Started out as W9NQR, then W0NQR (that's a zero) when the "0" call area was added by the FCC.  Moved east and was issued W2ESH. On 6/21/01 got a new "Vanity" call sign W2AGL (my initials). Then on 2/10/04 got a new vanity call NJ2AL. Then changed to W2ZIP for a year. Went back to W2AGL on 5/5/09. I'm on 20-15-10-6-2 meters and 440 mhz.  Also work 160-80-40 meters when long wire is up.

Take a look at my ham bio here: http://www.qrz.com/db/w2agl

President Herbert Hoover was a ham, so was Sen Barry Goldwater, K7UGA.

"TEX" BENEKE, K0HWY, SK - Big band singer and saxophonist Gordon L. "Tex" Beneke, K0HWY, of Santa Ana, California, died at a rest home in Costa Mesa May 30, reportedly of respiratory arrest. He was 86.  (Note: "SK" is ham code for "end of transmission".)
