Description
(60k) Introducing SCOOTER, my first cat. I really wanted a dog, but you have to walk dogs twice a day (or more) rain, shine, hot or cold, and pick up their poop. When I was a kid, you just let the dog out. Cats are a lot easier. Scooter likes to sit on the piano and chase after my glissandos.
(82k) Here's DOLLY, my second cat. When they were young, Dolly and Scooter used to fight a lot. Very worrisome.
(64k)
That's why I got CINDY, my third cat. I figured the extra social complexity might keep them from fighting so much. Turns out, cats tend to pair off. Result - Scooter and Dolly paired off, leaving Cindy the odd cat out. She's the smallest and most athletic, and in addition to sleeping on my monitor, does things like the following . . .
~ ~ ~ Update: Memoriam for Cindy ~ ~ ~
(52k) Cindy on the curtain rods. She jumps up here from computer table, file cabinet, printer on file cabinet, to curtain rods. She goes all the way across to a tall shelf on the other side, but here she is on her way back.
104k My dual monitor system, each with cat on top. Dolly's usual place on the main monitor (on the left) was here taken by Cindy, so Dolly had to occupy the monitor on the right. I highly recommended having two monitors. Very handy. Please don't ask me why I didn't use the flash for this picture. (Answer - I'm new with the camera and didn't think of it at the time.)
(109k) Here's where I made a BIG mistake. I didn't buy my camera soon enough to record the construction of this big new concrete water tank right out behind my house. 50' diameter by 50' high. (750,000 gallons) You can see the old tank in the back, much farther from my house. That's my ham antenna tower in the foreground. The new tank could mess up my transmissions to the NorthEast (Europe).
(76k) I recently got cable. My sister sent me a picture of her installation. Here's a picture of mine. Feed cable goes up through the soffit into the attic. You can see a piece of the big tank from under the deck.
(92k) Last November (11/27/02) we had an overnight snow which coated all the trees and power lines. The next morning was bright and sunny and the snow started falling from the trees. Quite a sight with the blue sky and sun shining. I tried to capture it here, but you can hardly make out the snow falling.
(78k) This is the apple tree at the back of my house on the north side. I thought it was pretty. The wire hanging down is another one of my ham antennas (on my chimney).
(77k) Here's my front and side streets as seen from the top of my driveway. The tree stump on the right with bush like branches is a Dawn Redwood that got struck by lightning a couple of years ago. The main tree exploded down, together with most of the bark, but amazingly enough, the tree lived. The little tree just in front is another Dawn Redwood.
(102k) Deer me! I saw these two deer way out by the new water tower. By the time I fetched my camera, they were this close and moving fast. I had time for just this one shot through my kitchen window.
(100k) Christmas decorations of my new neighbor across the street. Had to take a shot to demo the night performance of camera. Hand could have been steadier, but it was cold.
